The scene opens with an interior shot of an automobile driving through the city. Chad is at the wheel. Carly sits in the passenger seat reading aloud from a flyer which says "LIVE and IN CONCERT -- ROTARY NICKLES" on the back. In the backseat... more »

So a couple nights ago I ran out to see Silent Hill at a local cinema. It's the first time I've been to the movies in I don't know how long. I had a great time... more »

Blogharbor has a built in spamfiltering system that can block comments and automatically deletes trackbacks. I get about 50 spam trackbacks a day, which are automatically purged at regular intervals. I used to think this was great... until I somehow got on the list of "spam domains". I discovered this a couple weeks ago when I couldn't post a comment on my own blog. To their credit, Blogharbor quickly corrected the problem, but in the meantime, their trackback autopurge sailed through and removed all of ULev's self-referential trackbacks. (URRRGH!) The company I work at has two buildings (one in Burlington, one in Westford) replete with cubicles and offices. I can't say much for the cubicles, but I like the design of the offices. Each office has a narrow window as tall as the door mounted right next to the door. I think this is a great idea. Now when you are about to knock on a closed office door, you can first glance through the window and make sure you aren't disturbing someone in the middle of a meeting or a phone call or whatever.

I'm a pretty absentminded person, and very often I forget stuff, leave things behind, etc. This is one reason whenever anybody offers me a book to borrow, or offers to spot me a little cash, I almost always refuse. I don't like owing people, and given that forgetting to do stuff is pretty much a central facet of my personality, owing people is a bad idea altogether. Anyway, this morning when I got to work... more »

Okay, obviously I'm in a blause (blogging pause) here. I don't know how long it will go on for, but I can't write when there's no urge to do so. Just keep me in your aggregator and sooner or later something new will come. Work's been heavy as have other obligations, but when I do have free time, I haven't wanted to write. Sorry for the dearth of posts here lately.

Went outside this morning to run the sprinklers on my patch of dirt which will theoretically be a lawn someday. While I was dragging hoses around a wonderful sound greeted me and filled my heart with joy. "Old Sam Peabody Peabody Peadbody!" My friends, the White-throated Sparrows have returned, and once again live up to their reputation as bringers of joy. Sidenote: I spotted my first Tree Swallows on April 6th again this year, like clockwork those guys. Sunday, April 9

I had a very interesting if somewhat frustrating conversation with a theist the other day on a different blog on the subject of "moral absolutes". Actually the conversation was about my morality in general, and left me with a lot to ponder. Here's how it came about... more »
