So today my daughter came home to tell me that one of the teachers in her school who believes in God brought in a church choir and had a "presentation" in the gym which featured music, dancing, and of course, singing about God.  Needless to say, I'm not exactly thrilled...

Of course I have nothing against singing about God, in private or in public.  Until you start talking about a public school.  Newsflash--this is my child, and I'd like to decide exactly what religious training she receives, and public school is definitely not where she is supposed to be receiving it.  Separation of church and state anyone?

Of course, the story, as I am receiving it, comes from an eight year old child, so it may not be accurate.  Needless to say I've already called the school but nobody has gotten back to me yet.

However whatever it was she saw today, it made some sort of impact on my daughter.  She told me that she was embarrassed and had to explain to her friends that she didn't believe in God.  It definitely upset her.  "Can you tell Mommy?" she asked.  "Because I don't want to talk about it."
