I see, so jokes can be made and you guys can laugh at them, but only if they're made at someone you DON'T like, is that how it works around here? It was quite obviously a joke, a joke that has had legs for more than a dozen years, and everyone knows it's a joke, so lighten up for crying out loud.

I've been very forthcoming about the President and how disappointed I am in his performance, the dumb things he's said and done, and mistakes he's made, is there a reason that nobody here can admit when someone you voted for does or says something stupid??

All I said was "Gore never claimed to invent the internet" and therefore I don't find the joke funny, particularly since the "joke" was lobbed at Gore more times than I care to remember and did undue political damage to him on more occasions than I care to remember.

Gore actually did take part in helping to push the internet forward back when people thought it was just a haven for geeks and scientists. Reference:

Gore who was tarred by conservative lapdogs and liars (like John Kerry was) and lost the election while winning the popular vote. You'll have to forgive me if I don't find the repetition of a joke based on a lie that helped put King George in office particularly amusing.

Your opinion of my sense of humor (or lack thereof) is duly noted, but I think you are mistaken. I can laugh at jokes about Gore, Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, and any number of other political figures who I might admire. Heck I used to laugh my ass off at the portrayals of Clinton on Saturday Night Live. "Race you to the Pizza Hut!" LOL.

As far as not being able to admit when someone I voted for does or says something stupid, I'm not sure where you got that idea. I'm pissed off at Ted Kennedy over the wind farm thing. I've made no secret of it. Just ask anybody who I've talked to about it.

My problem, and maybe it is my problem, is I see a distinct difference between laughing at something stupid someone actually did, and people using falsehoods to dissuade people from supporting a person. Whether out of innocence because they just don't know the stories are false, or, worse yet, knowing full well that such stories are false and perpetuating them anyway (which is what a number of conservative tools do on a regular basis (c.f. Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, etc.)).

I'm sorry that it offends you that I don't find the "Al Gore invented the internet" joke particularly funny. I assure you that my feelings in that regard have nothing to do with you personally, or the fact that I voted for Gore. I hope I have explained myself adequately.
