When the original XBOX came out, I bought one almost immediately. Within a week it was going on the fritz, often being unable to read disks. Turned out that many of the early models had substandard or defective DVD drives. Six months later I bought a replacement unit which magically had no trouble all. With Microsoft, it pays to wait. So with the advent of the XBOX 360, I've been in no hurry to purchase one...
I'm waiting for everyone who has paid to find the bugs in the system to do so, so that Microsoft can release a patched up version without changing the name or giving any indication that it is a new version. Apparently some people didn't realize they were paying for the right to beta-test, and have decided to sue Microsoft over problems with the XBOX 360.
The lawsuit alleges that the console has been rushed to market so quickly, many units have shipped with basic thermal problems. After running for awhile, heat-sensitive components on the motherboard cease functioning because the unit gets too hot. Which is a painfully stupid problem for a computer or console to have folks.
