The Japanese probe which recently landed on the asteroid Itokawa and collected samples for return to Earth, developed new problems during liftoff from the surface of Itokawa.  One thruster began leaking gas, causing Hayabusa to shake and change orientation, and another ceased operating altogether.  The problems must be corrected before the probe can return home, a trip that must begin in early December.  The Washington Post has the story: Japanese May Lose Hayabusa Spacecraft.
