I stopped at my daughter's school to pick her up today, and she told me how they had held an "election" at school today...

All the kids got to vote for president.  Kerry won by a landslide, much to my daughter's disappointment.  In her innocent youth, Lynnea sees it as John Kerry trying to take away Bush's job, and she feels bad for Bush.  What a sweetheart.

James recommended that I tell her "Bush needs a nice vacation."

On the way out I passed a couple mothers of Lynnea's friends and I asked them if they had voted.  One said "Yup!  I did my civic duty this morning!  It was crowded."  The other said "Is it too late to register?"

I said to her that she could go to her polling station and ask for a provisional ballot, but it might not be counted because they would have to check it over and make sure she was legally allowed to vote there.  I'm not sure she understood, but I encouraged her.  "It doesn't hurt to try." I said.

Lynnea mentioned some interest in seeing where Daddy and Mommy voted, so we went back over to the polling station and I showed Neya where I had voted and how it worked.  The turnout was up to 432 ... coming up on 50%.  Looking good!

I told the ladies working there that Neya had voted at school today and that Kerry had won.  A few of them cheered.
