Easter 2006

For Easter we went to visit Pat's family and on the way down we stopped at a place called Edible Arrangements in Fitchburg to pick up "bouquets". I'd never heard of the place before. Apparently the colorful bouquets are actually made of pieces of fruit cut into flower like shapes and skewered with sticks which are then arranged in a vase just like a floral arrangement. They're really quite delicious and beautiful. I highly recommend them.

To celebrate Easter Weekend, one of the employees had the job of dressing up like the Easter Bunny, waving to passersby, and handing out balloons to youngsters. I thought this was very cute and asked if I could take a picture and the staff happily obliged. The lady standing next to the "Easter Bunny" also worked at the store. I've obscured her face here because at the time I didn't think to ask if I could put the picture on my blog... I didn't obscure the face of the Easter Bunny for obvious reasons!

I have contacted them via e-mail to ask if they want a copy of the photo (unobscured.) I bet they'll hang it on the wall of their store.

We're definitely going to go back there again, those arrangements were seriously yummy. The family gobbled them up so fast, for a moment I thought it was Thanksgiving!

Mother's Day 2006

Patty got this colorful and inventive bouquet, the floral selection of which was entirely my daughter's. I felt that since the bouquet was coming from Lynnea, she should pick out what went into it. Neya was really happy to do so. Then she suggested chocolates so we stopped at CVS on the way home and grabbed a fat old Whitman's Sampler and a box of Nestle Turtles (which are one of Pat's favorite candies.)

The gifts were a big hit, especially this arrangement of flowers. Pat liked the burgundy and yellow daisies most of all. The arrangement contained a big pink lily, 2 fat mums, carnations, various daisy-like flowers, a tulip, a long purple thing that I have no idea what it is, and 6 roses (all different colors).

Dividing Up The Loot

Later they sat in the sun and made sure that each of them got an equal share of the eggs. Easter 2007 was pretty sad without my Dad around, but we still had a nice time.

The Birthday Thing

Lynnea turned 10 yesterday, and one of the peculiarities of my particular offspring is that she just plain doesn't like cake. She likes the frosting, oh yeah, but the cake, no.

So this year we provided her with fruit, cool whip, ice cream, and waffle bowls and she made her own birthday treat, shown here.

So instead of a birthday cake, she had a birthday "thing". Chocolate chip ice cream in an edible waffle bowl, rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and maraschino cherries, and of course the requisite birthday candle. Well... at least it has fruit in it.

Rock Climbing

We visited my mother this weekend, as we have every weekend recently. We got out for a little while and went over to the Whitman town park where Lynnea discovered the "rock climbing" wall. She had a lot of fun.
