Cats Can Sleep Anywhere

There's not much cuter than a sleeping cat, but I am astounded at the places they choose to sack out. There is apparently no place too awkward, too dusty, or too uncomfortable. Here's Cherokee, sleeping behind my computer monitor on all the detritus that has accumulated there, snug up against my warm CPU. Purrrrrrr.

Four Legged Fannypack

So my wife called me into the kitchen the other day, saying "Chuck come here... and bring your camera." She had taken a break from doing dishes and had rested her elbows on the island while watching our kitchen TV for a bit. Apparently while she was resting there, along came Cherokee who hopped up on her back and decided it was a comfy place to perch!

Kitty Kitty

This is a local stray we and our neighbors call "Kitty Kitty". She's very affectionate and seems to appear out of nowhere whenever we exit the house in the morning, or arrive home in the afternoon. We (and apparently many other neighbors) feed her on a semi-regular basis... in fact she eats so well she's quite chubby and has a lot of heft to her. Yes, she's so tame and good natured that picking her up is no problem. She reminds me of a tabbycat I had as a young boy named "Leroy" (after "Leroy Brown", the baddest cat in the whole damn town).

In this picture she is demonstating once again that cats can sleep anywhere by stretching out on the driveway in front of my car, so that I can't pull out and go run errands! I've also caught her sleeping in a pile of autumn leaves and other peculiar places. She's very much an outdoor cat, but extremely sociable nonetheless.

We have more towels than fit in the average laundry basket but that doesn't stop Cherokee from scaling the towel mountain for a snooze at the summit... despite the fact that it looks like it may topple over at any moment.

When it comes to snoozing, cats have no problems with economy of space, as evidenced by Sunflower and Sprinkles squishing together to share the arm of the couch.

When I went back to check in on them later, Cherokee (in the back) had joined Sunny (in the front) and Sprinks. As you can see Sprinkles remains the fattest of the kitties.

Gettin' Snuggly

Later Cherry and Sunny decided to share the smallest cat bed, which was far more appropriately sized when they were kittens. When I saw this, I said to myself "They can't possibly be comfortable in there can they?"

Little did I know what I would see when I checked in on them later...

That Bed Looks Tired

Cherry has swapped Sunny (the smallest) out for Sprinky (the fattest). Sprinkles is so big she barely fits in the bed by herself, look at her head hanging out of the bed there. Meanwhile the sides of the bed strain under the catload.

These guys need bunk beds I think.

And Sprinks should be on the bottom bunk.
