Masked Girl Makes Mini Bagels

It all started when I wandered into my kitchen a few days ago and found this masked young lady toasting up minibagels in the kitchen for breakfast.

Misfit Pumpkins

Just a few feet away the counter was adorned with these misshapen or otherwise weird pumpkins. I found out later that these were the rejects from Lynnea's school Halloween Dance that I had been unable to attend because I was working late that night.

Sacagawaiting

So to make up for missing the dance, I worked from home today so I could go over to the school and watch Lynnea give her book report to her class. All the kids were dressed in costumes to look like characters from the books they read, and many parents had shown up to see the presentations. It was kind of like a play.

Here's Lynnea dressed as Sacagawea, waiting for things to get rolling. She was pretty nervous.

Toothpick Bat

While waiting Lynnea took the opportunity to show me some of the stuff she had done in school in recent weeks. Like making this festive bat with construction paper and toothpicks.

Constellations

Also the kids had been learning about constellations recently, and each had done a picture of a constellation. Lynnea's is the Cygnus in the top left corner with the big star hanging from it.

Neya's Turn!

Lynnea was one of the very few kids who had selected a nonfiction book to read and write about. The book she chose was about Lewis and Clarke who were guided across the American frontier by the Native American Sacagawea who appears on the dollar coins that started being minted in 2000.

Lynnea was very adamant in informing me that it is pronounced SACK-ah-jah-WEE-ah, not SACK-ah-jah-WAY-ah (which is how I've always said it.)

When her turn came up Lynnea did a great job. She enunciated clearly, read freely and easily from her report, and had good answers for all the questions the class asked her. I was impressed and personally think she was the best in the class.

(Of course, I'm completely biased!)

Job Well Done

She was very nervous before her turn came up, and once it was over, she looked happy and relieved as shown here. Good Job Lynnea!!
